How to add a custom favicon in Google Sites

Google Sites provides a simple and elegant way to create websites.

To help your site stand out, you can now customise your favicon, the icon which appears in a browser tab or bookmark list, to match your site.

This can help your viewers more easily recognise your site and help you reinforce your branding.

In a browser, like Chrome or Safari, the favicon is an image that shows next to a site's name at the top. Your site needs to be live to show a favicon.

On a computer, open a site in Google Sites.

  • At the top, click More and then Add Favicon

  • Click Upload or Select Choose image

  • Choose a JPEG, PNG, GIF, ICO, TIFF, BMP or WEBP file

  • Choose a file and click Open or Select

  • To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish
