With this new feature, you can now see the word count live in the document as you write.
Displaying this information is very helpful and enormously useful to users working on Google Docs who needed a minimum or maximum word count.
Instead of manually accessing the number of words each time in the Tool menu:
Tools > Word Count
Or by using:
Ctrl+Shift+C for Windows
Command+Shift+C for macOS
Now simply select Display word count while typing and you can now continuously display it in the lower left corner of your document.
Click Tools menu
Select Word count
Check Display word count while typing
You can also access here the number of pages, characters and character excluding spaces.
Tip: To see the word count of a specific section of the text, simply highlight that section in your doc.
